Winter is coming
The snow is falling in Calgary, and like every other year, it has me looking forward to the ski season. But this year is different because I’m beginning to think outside the resorts. Last year I got a taste for the backcountry, so I can’t wait to earn some turns this season.
In the last week, I’ve picked up this book from the library, drooled over all kinds of outdoor gear, and purchased touring boots from the annual ski swap (they were an incredible deal!)
Backcountry skiing is much more dangerous than a resort, so my playground is currently limited to some of the easier destinations: Black Prince, Burstall Pass (both in Kananaskis), and the Thunder Meadow’s Hut (near Fernie) are a few that have caught my eye. Now we just need it to keep snowing.
